Kid Friendly Home – Mom's Master Bedroom Retreat

Here is the final installment of the very Kid-Friendly Home I designed for a family of four. This week is all about Mom and her Master Bedroom Retreat. Every Mom loves a great Master Bedroom. So that is what we created is a space where my client Mom can relax. It was important to her to have a coastal feel but not really be themed.

The light fixture came with the home and my client wanted to keep it. I used that along with carpet as my base for the color palette in the space. The paint color is Sherwin Williams Nuance 7049. A great light neutral that is warmer than white and not so grey.

So my starting point was finding the nightstands and custom designing a bed that pulls together the color in the room. I added a bench to sit on when putting shoes on or taking them off.

I added a reading chair that fit the space and is comfortable for her to relax in. The fabric is stain resistant and I opted to keep all of the upholstery monochromatic. The drapery behind is simple but elegant along with the side table featuring a Marble top on an antiqued silver base.

The TV media cabinet was the final piece of furniture tying in the cream trim with the warm greys in the room.

I then added blue to break up the neutrals with the artwork over the bed and the chambray coverlet giving the space a coastal feel. The coverlet I found was just the right shade to complement the artwork. Custom made decorative pillows along with a few accessories and simple cream lamps added the finishing touches.

Really, the combination white and blue is giving a modern look as well as a vintage feel. I am just loving the ideas you have presented here to decorate a kid friendly bedroom.

Great post on creating a mom’s bedroom retreat! Having a dedicated space to relax is so important. I also find that adding loft boarding can help declutter and maximize space in a bedroom. Have you considered using loft boarding in your design plans?
