Behind The Scenes – Pomona Home Refresh

Today I am excited to share with you a great Concierge Design project we recently wrapped up.

This client recently moved into her new home with furniture from her old house. She wanted a fresh start reflecting her style with new furnishings, and that held up to her pets. With colorful details and thoughtful, functional choices throughout the main spaces, we were able to give a fresh new look to her home.

The Living Space

It was most important to my client that this part of the home had a relaxed feeling to the living space. Expressing her own personality since she is now empty nesting, it was time to design it with her needs in mind and still give enough sitting space for her daughters when they are visiting.

We focus on the main sectional and ottoman so she could put her feet up or lay back in the sectional to watch tv or read a book. An accent chair was added to complement the drapery. The drapery was done from ceiling to floor to soften the white walls. All done with her pets in mind with performance fabrics. Colorful artwork and accessories really added in those finishing touches that my client desired.

Before – she had furniture that wasn’t bringing in the colors of the tiled fireplace and floor that were already a part of the space. All the furniture in the space was overcrowding, just a lineup of varying pieces that didn’t really go with the new style of the home.

After – We started with a sectional that would allow for similar amounts of seats but open up the space and use only one chair that added color. Also gave the space a brighter color palette tieing in the colors that were already there.

The Dining Area

One detail that you’ll see carried out throughout this entire space that I needed to consider was the black lighting fixtures. My client loves a little DIY and opted to refinish her dining table in a black stain to bring it all together. The new dining chairs have black legs to tie them in even more, along with a fun animal print neutral performance fabric. These will hold up better than her previous chairs. Then we added in fun, bold abstract art and a patterned drape for more color.

The Entry

Her entry is a long hallway that had two areas we needed to focus on. The main side when you first walk in, then a recess area further down.

On the main entry side, we found a marble and gold console to break up the black wood front door and the light wood floor. My client loves the abstract cityscape we found at a trade source I used. It is a great way to start the color palette off in a home by choosing a piece that showcases the accent colors.

For the niched side of the entry/hall, we opted for a settee for a little different look and a side table that complimented with front entry console. We chose an art piece we were able to cut into 4 different sections to break it up a bit on this wall.

I am so happy with the way this turned out, and so is she. It really is her own style represented and now feels like her home.

From My Client – I had a wonderful experience with Marker Girl and am thrilled with the results. This was my first time working with an interior designer. Karen walked me through every step of the process and somehow turned my vague ideas into a design that suits me perfectly.
