Need help in creating a design concept for your room that you can work with and shop on your own?

The Room Planning Day service is intended for clients who are design enthusiasts and would like to work directly with Karen in their home to help create a design plan but are willing to do the legwork themselves. It provides you with a foundation to create your ideal space.

The day brings Karen to your home with a consultation, giving you direct access to professional design expertise, insider tips, and advice.

Then Karen will return to her studio, taking the ideas you consulted for your room to create a mood board, a scaled layout plan, a personalized shopping list, and an overview of recommended materials and products. These details will guide you in designing your dream space.

For Virtual Room Planning Days, you'll receive guided instructions for measuring your space and sending the details to us. Your consultation is done via a video call. (Please inquire about our virtual design services if you live outside of the Houston Area on your discovery call)

A Room Planning Day design fee starts at $2000 for the first room.

**Please note we are unable to provide to-the-trade access with this service. The design plan is for you to use as a guide and shop on your own. You will want to refer to our other services if you wish to access trade sources and need Karen to manage your project.

How the Process Works:

1. Room Planning Day Consultation

For our Houston area clients, it all starts with an in-home consult (the time is determined by how many rooms you wish to work on for the day). This is where Karen meets with you to outline your "Design Plan.” Karen walks through your room/s with you to determine your desired design direction. She reviews your ‘wish list’ and any photos or style ideas you may have collected for inspiration. She then creates a furniture floor plan if needed. Together, you collaborate in creating an outline of your room's Design Plan.

If you choose virtually, your consultation will be done via Zoom, and you will receive guided instructions on what we need before the video call.

Karen creates a personalized Pinterest Board at the appointment (using online sources) to store ideas from your day so you can use them immediately.

2. Marker Girl Studio Time

Karen then spends time in her studio pulling together your design details based on the ideas from the day.

Your Final Details Plan includes:

Furniture Scaled Layout Floor Plan
Design Mood Board - showcasing the design concept
Design Guide - suggesting what type of furniture to buy
Decorating Details - how to implement the plan
A Room Quick Guide - FAQ's for your room type
Design Binder - to help keep you organized

Your details plan and a video guide will be emailed to you within 7 - 14 business days. (The time frame depends on how many rooms you will be working on. There is a limit of up to three rooms for one day.)

3. Follow-up + Consulting

As you work with your Details Plan, for the first 90 days, you will have three follow-up emails from Karen. This is so you can check-in and ask Karen any questions you have about the plan.

Extra follow-up appointments are also available at a package rate if more assistance is needed on your project. You can use these to meet with me at your home and style your room for those finishing touches. Payment is collected before we meet at each appointment.
