Room Essentials
Professional design guidance for furnishing two or more rooms.
With Room Essentials, you will work directly with me, Karen Davis, owner and principal designer of Marker Girl.
This service is for homeowners who want to stay involved in the design decisions while receiving my professional guidance. I will create furniture layouts and coordinated selections for furniture, rugs, lamps, and window treatments. The service includes four scheduled appointments, from the project review through furniture installation.
All furnishings are sourced and purchased through Marker Girl’s trade vendors. I manage the ordering, tracking, delivery coordination, and installation of these items.
Art, decorative accessories, accessory shopping, and shelf styling are not included. These services, along with additional consulting time, may be added for an additional fee.
For more complete support, including artwork, accessories, styling, and ongoing project coordination, please see my Full-Service Design service.

"Karen Davis - “Marker Girl” is the perfect mix of professional and personable, organized and artistic, fastidious and friendly.
Karen listened to our preferences and offered options that are in line with our needs and lifestyle. For the duration of our project, she tracked and clearly communicated costs, deadlines, and installation dates.
I never felt that she was ignoring our needs for the sake of her “vision”. The end result is a complete design that is both beautiful and durable, as we have a large family with small children. Specifically, she was able to offer us family-friendly upholstery options that are tough and can be easily cleaned; also she was very thoughtful about accessory placement so that breakable items were not in high-traffic areas. We had a great experience with Karen, she is truly an artist. And of course, we get many compliments!"

“We are so excited about the changes that never would have occurred without Karen's assistance."
Karen was wonderful. She respected our wishes, really listened to what we wanted, and accomplished what I consider to be the most awesome transformation of our home. I am a very particular person (highly analytic - math/physics) who cannot easily describe what I like and Karen had the patience and wherewithal to extract from me something I just could not describe. Karen gave me the options I needed to make my choices and her guidance helped me complete the design. I am so pleased with the results.
