The Art of Selecting Artwork for a Room

I ran across this article recently in New England Home Magazine and immediately fell in love with space. Designed by Interior Designer Gerald Pomeroy Styled By: Kyle Hoepner Photographer: Bruce Buck

What I love most is the artwork I think a great example of art used well in home… While we all have different preferences and taste with art it can be a very personal thing. There are ways to show it well that I think just work best when selecting artwork for a room. So I am going to use these beautiful pictures to show what I mean.

Group pairs on one wall and then a larger one on the side  creating a great balance. The key is to tie in the colors of the art.  Select paint color after to coordinate with your art and add accessories to bring it together.

If you have a room already decorated and want art to add. Find a piece that has color and then just add accessories in to balance the room.

This niche has a great neutral painting in black and white but the color in the niche makes it stand out and show it off. Make sure to get art that really fills the niche don’t put something too small or have a least a group.

Bathrooms can be forgotten, you spend a few times a day in them why not highlight your bathroom with a beautiful piece. Also I am a big fan of simple frames and not letting the art be the frame.

Over the bed art can be tricky since there isn’t always a lot of height.  A series of photos works well or I have even found art prints that can be cut into different sections and hung separately. So remember to think of out the box for those more awkward sized spaces.

Here are all of the details on this great home from Gerald Pomeroy in New England Home Magazine

Happy Everything!
